Organising Authority

The World Championship 2006 is being organised by the Royal Yacht Club "The Kaag", in cooperation with WV Braassemermeer and the Dutch International 5.5 Metre Class Organisation.

1 Rules
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), and the current Int. 5.5 Metre Class Rules.
1.2 The regatta is designated as a category C as changed by the class rules.
1.3 The World Championships Rules for International 5.5 Metre Class will apply.

2 Entries
2.1 Entries shall be made on the enclosed entry form before July 10th 2006,

2.2 The entry shall be accompanied by a copy of a valid certificate of rating.
2.3 The entry fee is € 500,- and must be paid before July 14th

3 Eligibility
Eligibility in accordance with ISAF Eligibility Code Regulation 19 is required for any person who wants to compete in this regatta. All responsible persons with the Dutch nationality are required to have a Dutch Starting Licence and show it at registration.


4 Sailing Instructions
The Sailing Instructions are available at the Regatta office from July 28th.

5 Measurement requirements
Competing yachts must be available for measurement on July 28th.

6 Registration and Racing Schedule
Registration of competitors will take place on July 28th 10.00 until 16.00 hours

Races are scheduled as follows

Race 3 and 6 be will be started as soon as possible after the previous race. No warning signal will be made after 14.00 hours on the last day of racing.

7 Course
The course will be of the "up-wind down-wind" type with a spreader-mark. Three up-wind legs and two down-wind legs are to be sailed.

8 Scoring
The Low point scoring system, rule A2, will apply Seven races are scheduled of which four must be completed to constitute a valid World Championship. If seven races are completed a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

9 Penalty System
The turn penalty of RRS 44.2 will apply with the exception that only one turn has to be made. This alters RRS 44.2.

10 Prizes
In accordance with the Championship Rules 5.5 metre article 3.

11 International Jury
An International Jury will be constituted in accordance with RRS Appendix N. The decision of the Jury will be final and there will be no right of appeal. The Watersportverbond has given its required approval.

12 Liability and insurance
Participants compete at their own risk and responsibility. The Royal Yacht Club the Kaag, Yacht Club Braassemermeer and their members, the Race Committee, the Class Organisation or any other party involved in the organisation of the Championship cannot be held responsible for any personal or material damage (including but not limited to death, injury, consequential losses) sustained prior to, during or after the races. Each boat entered shall have a third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of € 1.000.000,- per event or the equivalent in the currency of the country of registration of the boat.
